Words in the Wood
Join me for a day of gentle creativity among the trees.
Words in the Wood brings together the calm of nature and the quiet joy of writing, in the beautiful surroundings of Hazel Hill Wood. There are no rules and no pressure, just space to breathe, explore, and let your writing flow.

Hazel Hill Wood
I have a long association with Hazel Hill Wood, a magical 70-acre mixed woodland near Salisbury. I have yet to meet anyone who can spend a day here without feeling refreshed, rebalanced and restored.
The woodland itself is a central part of the experience. There is a campfire circle among towering beech trees, thoughtfully designed buildings crafted from Hazel Hill’s own wood, and quiet benches beneath a lone oak or where woodland paths meet. There are spaces to be alone and spaces to come together, both indoors and outdoors.
The writing
Nature can be a powerful source of inspiration for writing, as well as a grounding and supportive setting for it. We will draw on our surroundings for ideas and perspectives to stimulate our words.
This is not about perfect grammar, red pen, or getting it right. Instead, writing becomes a way to explore thoughts, connect with feelings, and express yourself. There will also be opportunities to share ideas with others in a relaxed and supportive environment.
There is no pressure at any point. You can always choose whether to write, and whether to share what you have written.
Campfire Circle
Who is it for?
Anyone is welcome. No experience or particular skill is needed, only a willingness to give it a try.
It may especially appeal to those working in caring or people-focused roles such as counselling, psychotherapy, coaching, healthcare, wellbeing or social care. However, this is not essential.
When work or life involves caring for others, it is important to take time to care for yourself too.
The benefits
Spending time in a natural environment helps us to slow down and become more aware of our senses. Noticing what we can see, hear and feel brings us into the present moment and often sparks new ideas.
Stepping away from the daily pressures of work, family and to-do lists can be deeply restorative. Taking time to reconnect with your creativity can feel like a welcome gift to yourself.
My intention is for the day to feel nourishing, enjoyable, stimulating and connecting. Past participants have said that these sessions helped them rediscover their love of writing, feel more confident putting words on paper, and enjoy the company of others who also like to write.
I hope you will join us on Sunday 23rd November, from 10am until 4pm. The cost is £95. Please contact me if you would like to find out more or book your place.
