Individual Counselling

Weekly counselling sessions for adults, in person or online

Individual Counselling

Choosing a therapist can feel confusing, with so many different approaches and terms. What matters most is finding someone you feel able to trust and talk to openly.

I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore what’s happening for you at your own pace. Together, we can begin to understand the issues, patterns, or relationships that may be causing distress—looking at both your current experience and how past events may be shaping it.

We might explore what you would like to change, and what may be getting in the way. I see counselling as a collaborative process; one of joint exploration, rather than me telling you what to do.

Practical details

I offer weekly 50-minute sessions at the same time each week.

  • Location: In person at my garden office in Ashton Keynes (near Cirencester, Swindon, Cricklade, and Malmesbury), or online

  • Who I work with: Adults (18+)

  • Duration: Open-ended—we decide together what feels helpful

  • Fees: £55 per session, or £60 for evening appointments (after 5pm)

The first session is an opportunity to explore what you’re looking for and to get a sense of whether we feel like a good fit. You’re under no obligation to continue afterwards.

You’re also very welcome to contact me in advance with any questions.

Why seek counselling?

People come to counselling for many different reasons. You might recognise yourself in one or more of the following:

  • You’re coping with loss such as bereavement, illness, or a life-changing diagnosis

  • You’re going through a significant life change (retirement, becoming a parent, career shifts, relationship changes, relocation)

  • You’re feeling low, anxious, overwhelmed, or as though you can’t go on as things are

  • You feel stuck, confused, or unsure why things feel the way they do

  • You struggle with self-worth, or tend to put others’ needs before your own

  • You’re carrying the impact of past experiences, including trauma or difficult relationships

  • You notice unhelpful patterns in your relationships and want things to be different

  • You’re questioning direction, purpose, or meaning in your life

Counselling isn’t only for times of crisis. It can also be a space to reflect, grow, and move towards a more fulfilling and meaningful way of living.

Whatever brings you here, counselling can help you better understand yourself and feel more able to make the changes that matter to you.

 FAQs

  • I offer sessions in person at my garden office in Ashton Keynes (near Cirencester, Swindon, Cricklade, and Malmesbury). I also work online, so I can see you without the time or cost of travel, wherever you live.

  • Counselling appointments last for 50 minutes for individuals and would be at the same time each week. I don’t limit the number of sessions; we would decide together how long it is helpful for you to do counselling.

  • I charge £50 per session, or £60 for evenings (after 5pm).

I don’t offer free or discounted first sessions, because experience shows that a first counselling session is important and valuable, whether or not you decide to continue working with me. It should help to clarify what you are looking for, and there is no obligation; you are free to decide afterwards whether I am the right counsellor for you.

My experience suggests that this is a more helpful way to decide than phoning or emailing with questions. That said, you are of course welcome to phone or email with any questions.

  • I believe counselling can help with any or all of these things, and more. My approach is to work with you as a whole person, recognising that the issues you bring touch all aspects of your life, and I trust that the counselling process will go where it needs to go. For that reason, I don’t advertise a specialism, or limit my work to people with a single issue.

I would say that if you are looking for specific support with an eating disorder, or to overcome addiction, then I am probably not the best counsellor for you; in these cases, it can be useful to work with someone who has done additional specialist training.

Taking the first step can feel difficult.

If you’re considering counselling, you’re very welcome to get in touch; I’ll do my best to make the process feel straightforward and supportive from the outset.
